A small town at the base can allow for an easy access to the mountain. Other than this town, Vail is relatively close to this resort of Beaver Creek.
Owned by Vail Resorts, the Epic and Epic Local Pass can allow for easy access on this mountain. Check the website for more information regarding lift tickets.
Believe me, if you just travel a little past Vail, you can enjoy less of a touristy feel. It is roughly 2 hr. - 2 1/2 hr. drive from Denver. Just as a reminder you are close in proximity to Vail and not far from Copper Mountain.
