A-Bay is home to the natives of Colorado! If you want an extreme slope, don't be the rookie slowing down the rest of the expert skiers and snowboarders here. This area is great for a continental divide photo and it is only a hour to a hour and a half drive from Denver. There are not too many easy slopes, so be prepared to exhibit some adrenaline style verticals at this local resort!
If you don't mind traveling over 3 hours from Denver for an EPIC experience, here is the spot to find the glory of mass terrain in all different styles. It is home to the X-Games and it possesses a massive amount of acreage to shred! It has a great selection of hotels for visitors, but let's not forget about Airbnb...
Hey, there's Vail! Guess what? Drive just a bit further for an enjoyable resort with less crowds and terrain that is great in the wooded area. There are plenty of tree runs with a less touristy feel! Explore the terrain knowing the extra miles on I-70 were totally worth it!
One of the favorites for tourists and regular visitors. I love the bowl runs at this resort as they are not for the weaklings compared to other winter resorts. There is mass territory to check out here including 5 total peaks to shred. Enjoy the outdoors as there are hikes that you experts can explore to boost your heart rate, and I will say my favorite is peak 6!
Home to the Ikon pass holders... It is located just past the Breckenridge exit of Frisco, just off I-70. Here, you can find the phenomenal Woodward terrain park with so many features, you will not know what to do with yourself. The acres that you can hit are all the way from easy greens to the bowl runs an expert can attempt to handle. Woodward terrain park is also open all year round outdoors! One of the best freestyle ski resorts not too far from Denver!
If you are down for the drive, you can find some great runs here at the Butte. Funny enough, people sometimes refer to this area as the crested butt... This area is gorgeous in the fall, winter, you know what.... ALL YEAR ROUND! Find yourself a place to stay early because this area is not your local tourist spot when comparing this toother close ski resorts!
Got kiddos? This is another local resort that is great for beginners! Have your kids get a lesson and take a ride with the great personnel that work here. Not too far from some gambling if you parents enjoy a Vegas-style experience. It is the closest to Boulder as far as mountain resorts go, and you can easily avoid the traffic on the weekends! Did I mention that it is cheaper than most resorts as well...
One of my favorites! Here, you can explore outdoors and ride through many trees for days... Wear a helmet! This is an area that is less touristy than Breck and Vail ski resorts, and it is closer if you don't drive well in mountains. They have great staff for beginners and they have a giant igloo for the kids! Plenty of hotels and don't forget Airbnb...
Do you want extreme terrain with a view? This ski area is located on the continental divide, and it is located just an hour and a half from downtown Denver! Set yourself up with a great experience. There are ZERO hotels here, so I suggest somewhere around Silverthorne and Georgetown. Be sure to have snowshoes if you decide to hike the Loveland Pass...
Ohhh, you want to drive and explore a mountain with less crowds? Here is the adventure that will take you to a place you can experience just that... This area is secluded and enjoyed by the locals to avoid traffic headaches. Be sure to check snow conditions out to see what type of traffic you can endure on a 2-lane road.
Why is it named POWDERhorn? I think you should get it. How about a learn-how-to-ski FREE program for the kids?! Take a look and be prepared to drive a distance. The distance might just be worth it!
